Introducing baby
to the world of tattoos can be hazardous... |
Here's a subject that I feel is of great
importance but one I've never really seen anyone address. Taking
baby to the tattoo shop. Now, I realize that a tattoo shop is
really NOT a place for baby or toddlers. Most tattoo shops do
not even allow children on the premises.
We, at Inkpulsive,
do work with a lot of female clientele and do not mind the occasional
child while people are browsing or setting up an appointment,
as long as they're supervised. (Children are allowed in our
waiting room but never in the actual work room.) During appointments
(which can sometimes take hours), we do advise you leave your
child with a sitter. |
You see, eventually young children will
get bored. They want to play. They want to see the pictures.
They don't want to stay put. They'll start to yammer, whine,
cry and can cause a huge distraction/annoyance to the artist
who's trying to concentrate on their work... and to the client
who's trying to relax and remain still. Sooner or later, they're
going to want 'down'. On the FLOOR. :/ |
| I can't tell you how many mothers, old or young, have no problem
sitting baby on the floor to play. I'm sure this is fine at home.
It's HOME. It's relatively safe. You know everything is clean
and where it's been and what its' touched. In a tattoo shop or
in ANY PUBLIC PLACE, you don't know. You really don't. But think
about this next time you loose your child on the floor in a tattoo
shop, because I swear, I've seen baby on the floor in a tattoo
shop too many times and I always have to stop the mothers and
tell them "Go wash his hands, NOW!". Because we all
know that baby's hands are in his mouth as often as air is. Anything
that baby picks up goes directly in his mouth as well. Not good. |
| See, there's one word that lurks in tattoo shops everywhere
that should scare the shit out of you. That word is BIOHAZARD!
And the floor is covered with biohazardous material. Think about
it. We're working in the work room. Ink as well as water we're
cleaning the tattoo with can and does sometimes drip to the floor...
and contained in that is blood and bodily fluids. Artists and
clients walk on that floor as well as the floor in the waiting
room. This tracks bacteria from blood and bodily fluids wherever
we walk... not to mention the stuff that gets tracked inside from
outside on the street. That's kind of nasty to think about, huh?
|
| We do everything in our power to do whatever we can to keep
our beautiful shop clean. A floor is impossible to keep sterile
or even remotely sanitized. It doesn't matter how many times a
week that floor is mopped, or even if it's mopped every night.
It may look clean and spotless, but how can you be sure? Is it
worth risking a life? So the best thing to do is keep baby and
his toys off of the floor. There is no "5 second rule"
in a tattoo shop. There is no "kiss it up to god". The
floor can be deadly. |
Treat it as such. |
